I’d like to start this post off by saying everything that has been written in this post is a reminder to MYSELF first!
Let me start off by asking you, when was the last time you sincerely got down in sujood and thanked Allah for all that he has blessed you with?
With our hectic busy days with work, children and family sometimes Allah is the last one on our list to take care of but in reality He is the most important one.
We praise others and ourselves for landing that amazing job or promotion, for getting accepted at one of the top college / university, for getting pregnant. We all need to take a step back and remember who gave us all of these blessings.
Say, “He is Allah, [Who is] One. – Qur’an 112:1
As human beings we sometimes take the blessings from Allah SWT for granted.
Let me share one of my all time favourite Hadeeths with you:
‘Uthman Ibn ‘Affan Radi’Allahu Anhu reported, “Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said, “Adam’s descendant is not entitled [to anything in life] except these items:
- A house to live in
- Clothes to cover their intimate areas (‘awrah)
- Dry bread and water
Ya Allah SWT. Those are the only items that we are entitled to in this Dunya. Now I’d like you to look around you right at this moment. Look at the couch or bed you’re sitting on. Look at the furnishings in your home. Think about all of the luxuries that Allah SWT has blessed you with, and by luxuries I’m talking about clean drinking water, a variety of different types of food. (other than dry bread and water) Now let’s all say Alhamdulillah and give 2 Rakat in Shukr to Allah SWT.
It’s okay, finish reading this post when you’re finished your voluntary prayer to Allah.
‘And whatever blessings and good things you have, it is from Allah.’
We will never be able to thank Allah [swt c=”black”] enough for all of our blessings however we need to be conscious and grateful for all of the blessings while giving as much thanks as we can. Allah SWT says,
“Will you not, then, take heed? For should you try to count Allah’s blessings, you could never compute them” Qur’an 16:17-19.
Let’s all make a commitment that from this day forward we will all be more conscious of the many blessings that Allah SWT has bestowed upon us. Say Alhamdulillah for everything and sincerely thank Allah SWT in our sujood.
I pray this post acts as a reminder to us all; myself first.
Until my next post,
